The Nigerian Bar Association has called for an immediate investigation into the N15 million bribery allegations against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
This comes after a viral audio by online influencer, Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, who made the allegations. NBA President, Afam Osigwe finds the claims disturbing and has asked the Attorney General of the Federation and the Office of the National Security Adviser to lead the investigation.
In a related development, Officers of the Nigerian Correctional Service accused of giving Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky VIP treatment by housing him outside the prison facility, the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board have all been suspended.
The officers include;
i. Michael Anugwa, Deputy Controller of Corrections In-Charge of Medium Security Custodial Centre, Kiri-kiri, Lagos State;
ii. Sikiru Adekunle, Deputy Controller of Corrections (DCC), In-Charge of Maximum-Security Custodial Centre, Kiri-kiri, Lagos State;
The suspension of these Officers is to allow for further investigation on the various allegations while assuring that the outcome would be made public when concluded.
