The multi-award-winning Nigerian musician Burna Boy became known in Europe in 2019 for his collaboration with Stormzy and Ed Sheeran on the super hit “Own It”. In his homeland, however, he has been a star for much longer.

Burna Boy comes from a music-loving family. His grandfather, who introduced him to classical music, among other things, was the manager of Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti. Burna Boy began producing music at the age of ten. After graduating from college, he moved to London to study, but dropped out after two years and moved back to Nigeria with a label deal in his pocket to pursue his passion. In London, he has since acquired the Brixton Patois accent, which will later become one of his trademarks.

In 2012, Burna Boy delivers his first hit “Like To Party”. The album “Leaving An Impact For Eternity (L.I.F.E.)” makes it into the top 10 of the US reggae charts. After a few years of less international success, he achieved his worldwide breakthrough with producer Juls and the album “Outside” and climbed to number 3 in the US reggae charts. Part of the secret of his success: fruitful collaborations with stars such as Fall Out Boy and Major Lazer and with British musicians such as Lilly Allen and Dave. As a guest singer on “Good Time” by J Hus, Burna Boy is awarded double platinum, the track becomes Song of the Year at the Brit Awards.

In 2019, Burna Boy can be heard on the soundtrack to “The Lion King: The Gift”, curated and co-produced by Beyoncé, and also takes home the BET Best International Act Award and the MTV Europe Music Award for “Best African Act”. A performance at the Coachella festival, a sold-out concert at Wembley Arena and performances by Jimmy Kimmel, Trevor Noah and Jimmy Fallon round off the year. Then follows with the guest appearance on Stormzy’s “Own It”, an international super hit. Burna Boy’s fourth album “African Giant” is nominated for a Grammy in 2020, his seventh album “I Told Them…” reached number 1 in the UK charts in 2023.

Sit back, lay back, and enjoy the vibe!!!!!
